Parents would love to wrap their children in virtual “bubble wrap” to protect them from all hurt, illness and troubles, but the reality is that all kids will get hurt, get sick, get colds, and get a fever. At New Canaan Pediatrics, we understand that, especially when little ones get a fever, parents get worried. We are parents ourselves! [Read more…] about Making sense of fevers to avoid fever phobia
New Canaan Pediatrics will administer the COVID-19 vaccine for
patients 6 months to 5 years old only.
At this time, children 6 months to 5 years old are the only group we are vaccinating.
If you are interested in having your child receive the 6m-5yr Covid-19 Vaccine
Please call our office.
The Covid-19 vaccine is shipped to us in vials of 10 shots per vial. This means we need to schedule 10 shots within a 6 hour window so we will be collecting names and putting together groups of ten to be scheduled on one day for the first dose and then another day for the second dose. We want to make this as easy as possible for families to get your infant/toddler vaccinated. We will be asking you to work with us in coordinating dates. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call Mary at 203-972-4240.
The American Academy of Pediatrics encourages children ages 6 months and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine series consists of two doses, separated by 21 days. The pediatric dose is a smaller dose than the adult dose. In clinical trials, vaccination was nearly 91% effective in preventing COVID-19 among children aged 5-11. Vaccine side effects were mild, self-limiting, and similar to those seen with other vaccines recommended for children.
New Canaan Pediatrics encourages all our families to get vaccinated. Unfortunately, we do not have the COVID-19 vaccine for children over 5 at this time.
